Precious Plastic was started in 2013 by Dave Hakkens and is a global community working towards a solution to plastic pollution. Their Open Source plans for tools and knowledge library has been invaluable in developing the machines deployed for the Timor Leste project ... and are the basis for our Community PAAR Kits.
Precious Plastic Monash has been an early adopter of the Precious Plastic tools as applied to the production of artworks ... take a look at some of their spectacular artwork here. |
PAAR is a community organisation, and how principles are based upon providing the tools and funding to help communities build establish a sustainable system for plastic mining. To achieve this, we take care not to establish communities that are reliant upon once off grants or corporate support programs ... lest the community collapse if the support is withdrawn.
Opportunities do exist for interested business sponsors to participate through a number of mechanisms that support the initial phases of community formation; including; financial support for plastic recycling machine manufacture, provision of suitable facilities for communities, logistics support for the collection and storage of mined plastic.
